Birth Assistant – Full time, Immediate Opening
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated full time Birth Assistant passionate about natural childbirth and family-centered care to join our team in Asheville, NC.
Qualified candidates must hold a current North Carolina RN license or NARM CPM credential. A minimum of one year of experience in maternal/child health, labor and delivery, and neonatal care is required. Prior birth center experience is preferred.
The Birth Assistant works closely with the midwives to provide support during labor, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.
Responsibilities include monitoring maternal and newborn wellbeing, assisting during births and urgent situations, supporting newborn visits and screenings, maintaining birth center readiness, and assisting with clinic flow as needed.
This position includes clinic support, on-call shifts, attendance at births, participation in emergency drills and staff meetings, and collaboration with outside providers when escalation of care is needed. Candidates must be able to work well in fast-paced environments, communicate effectively with families and staff, and live within 30 minutes of the birth center while on call.
Current NRP and BLS certifications are required.
