Our Team

January Sky was born at home and grew up listening to her father tell her wondrous birth story. At ages 10 and 11, she witnessed the births of her baby sisters and was amazed! From a young age, she viewed birth as a normal, yet magical process. 

 

Sky’s first career was massage therapy, with a specialization in prenatal massage. She then experienced the benefits and nurturing of midwifery care during her own pregnancies, births, and beyond. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse on a high-risk unit in Cleveland, OH, for 10 years, gaining valuable experience. 

 

She is a fierce advocate for physiologic birth, bodily autonomy, and informed choice. In March of 2022, Sky’s dream of becoming a midwife became a reality when she graduated with her MSN from Frontier Nursing University. She then worked at a Freestanding birth center in Indianapolis for 4 years. She loves the continuity of care, longer appointment times, and deeper relationships that are found in the out-of-hospital setting. 

 

In her free time, Sky enjoys time with family, hiking, yoga, and live music. She is married, has two adult daughters, and one sweet kitty. Sky is excited to join the Lilac Health team and honored to partner with women and families here in Asheville.
