Amy Allen

Midwife | CNM

Amy is a Certified Nurse Midwife who believes birth is a sacred and transformative experience—one that unfolds best when families feel safe, supported, and truly heard. Prior to becoming a midwife, Amy spent seven years working as a registered nurse on the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit in Hendersonville, NC. During that time, she led the development of Henderson County’s first Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, reflecting her lifelong commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care.

In 2019, Amy earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Midwifery from East Carolina University. Her approach to maternity care blends evidence-based practice with the art of intuitive, individualized support—honoring each family’s values, choices, and vision for birth. Amy is passionate about inclusive, affirming care for all individuals, and previously practiced gender-affirming and reproductive health care. She believes every person deserves respectful, empowering support throughout their reproductive journey.

Amy’s philosophy is best captured by Barbara Katz Rothman: “Birth is not about making babies. Birth is about making mothers—strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”

Outside of midwifery, Amy enjoys life in Hendersonville with her two teenage sons. You can often find her hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, attending concerts, or soaking up the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains with her boys.
