Gazelle’s pursuit of midwifery began after the birth of her children, inspiring her to be a homebirth midwife for 14 years and then licensed as a certified nurse-midwife to become the Midwifery Director at the Lifecycle WomanCare Birth Center in Bryn Mawr, PA for 17 years. 

She is well known as a specialist and site inspector for the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC) which is the accrediting body that certifies birth centers which adhere to the best standards and practice of care ensuring safety for families using birth center care.

Gazelle is delighted to be pulled out of retirement to open the Lilac Health Asheville Birth Center. She is inspired by the courage displayed by the families she has helped and their innate trust in the process of giving birth.

In her free time, Gazelle indulges her passion for gardening, taking joy in planting seeds and watching them grow into beautiful flowers. She says it takes a special partner to stand by a midwife for over 40 years and is grateful for her husband.
